The GARGOYLE GARDEN (excerpt)

"Edgar Allen Densmore sat
atop his residence hall
seven times his parents failed to come
and visit him this fall.

It really wasn't all their fault
for they were quite the busy lot

on this, his fav'rite spot.

to the rooftop in decay
past the bent and twisted, rusty gate
where the Gargoyle Garden lay.

A strange abnormal rooftop
with stone statues bent in place,
fearsome creatures with wings and horns
and fangs upon their face.

They nested on the cracking walls.
They lounged in crumbling piles.
The bathed in crippled fountains,
with demented, fragmented smiles..."
